On 21 March 2023, Brunei Methanol Company Sdn Bhd (BMC) hosted a Stakeholder Engagement Dialogue session at the SPARK Mini Theatre to inform the government agencies, relevant authorities, neighboring companies and local communities around Mukim Liang on the upcoming Scheduled Turnaround (STA) maintenance works.

The event was attended by, amongst others, Mejar Erawan bin Haji Abu Bakar, Commanding Officer of the Third Battalion Royal Brunei Land Forces; Senior Superintendent Handrie bin Haji Amin, Commanding Officer of Belait Police District and representatives from government and non-government organisation and agencies.
The event started with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah followed by a safety briefing. A welcoming address was delivered by BMC’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Jesús Enrique Mora Marín. He emphasized the importance of the engagement session with the stakeholders to inform and understand issues that concern the community as a result of the STA maintenance work.
The engagement session focus was to update the attendees on the schedule, type of activities to be expected and the safety aspects of the works to be carried out during the STA. It served as a platform for sharing and exchanging information on relevant issues whilst reassuring that the safety and wellbeing of the surrounding community and the environment are safeguarded.
The turnaround is expected to begin on 21 April 2023 until early June 2023. Upon the conclusion of the presentations, the audience had an interactive question and answer session to raise any issues, concerns and clarification related to the maintenance activity.
BMC recognized that regular dialogue and engagement with the stakeholders are essential to foster open and transparent sharing of information. It provides an opportunity to obtain feedback and identify areas for improvement to contribute to a better future.
