OPERATION MANAGER
OPERATION DEPARTMENT
Responsibilities:
-
Develop departmental plans including business, production and organisational priorities for the Operations department.
-
Guide direct reports in executing department work plans.
-
Promote technical excellence by setting competency standards and engaging staff to continually develop and improve their skills.
-
Direct the resolution of complex or unusual problems; provide personally or through direct reports, technical leadership for the resolution of complex or unusual situations problems, and to identify improvements.
-
Provide technical and operational input to the decision making process that determines the strategic direction of the Operations department.
-
Work with Operation, maintenance and Technical departments to ensure seamless and optimized process controls and continual improvements, through regular meetings and consultations.
-
Engage in inter-disciplinary projects such as the ‘scheduled turnaround of plant facilities’ project, to provide technical input and help define specifications or manage changing requirements. This is to ensure that Operations concerns and parameters are considered.

Negotiate intake of gas allocation to meet plant production capacity with suppliers such as GSA.
Minimum Requirements:
-
Bachelor’s Degree/Higher National Diploma with at least 10 years of relevant work experience or;
-
Diploma/Certificate/’A’ Level with at least 15 years of relevant work experience
-
Inclusive of at least 5 years’ experience in a supervisory role
-
Holding a Master’s Degree is an added advantage

CHIEF OPERATION SUPERINTENDENT
OPERATION DEPARTMENT
Responsibilities:
This is an experienced Professional role. You work independently on specialised projects and tasks of moderate complexity, receiving moderate levels of guidance and direction. You are able to interpret customer needs, assess requirements and determine appropriate actions. May guide junior officers and shift team on delivery of work.

Handles all day to day operation

Main liaison with operations shifts and Operation Permit Coordinator

Co-ordinates with Maintenance team

HSE
-
audit and inspect to identify unsafe acts and conditions. Immediately correct or notify management if any actual or potential hazards to health, safety and/or the environment is identified
-
investigate accidents and incidents and take remedial actions in order to avoid recurrence
5. Managing the business:
5.1 General
-
Plan, organize and follow up divisional activities to ensure continuous improvement and that the objectives of all divisional activities are met.
-
Maintain and enhance the Quality/Environmental/OHSAS Management System being the custodian of the Manufacturing activity.
-
Proactively look for opportunities to improve the business. Be aware of internal and external customers and the commercial implications of actions taken. Promote Total Quality Management and instill TQM principles with staff.
5.2 Production planning
-
Based on maintenance requirements develop the short term production plan together with Logistic Officer. Advise and agree with TEM on the required gas offtake profile
-
Together with the maintenance and other department, plan and schedule project/maintenance activities affecting plant operation
5.3 Plant operation
-
Manage all activities related to the safe, reliable and efficient operation of all process and utility facilities.
-
Ensure product quality and quantity according to contracts and agreements.
-
Monitor plant performance. Identify problem areas and opportunities for improvements. Co ordinate trouble shooting, liaise with all others (Operations Support, TED, Process Safety) and implement improvements.

Ensure that all trip/failures are reported, investigated and followed up
-
Screen project and plant change proposals, advise and give operational input to the development of new projects and plant changes
5.4 Managing operation contracts (OPS – Water treatment chemicals and Industrial gas)
-
Be the company site representative for OPS contracts
-
Keep track of contractor performance through monthly contract performance reviews.
-
Assist SCM on the preparation for contract renewal
Minimum Requirements:
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with at least 7 years of relevant work experience or;
-
Higher National Diploma in Engineering with at least 10 years of relevant work experience
-
Inclusive of at least 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role
-
Experience in Petrochemical production/operation/process is an added advantage
