As Ramadhan is a time for performing good deeds, Brunei Methanol Company Sdn Bhd (BMC) hosted a breaking-of-fast event with 11 underprivileged families residing in Mukim Liang at the Rizqun International Hotel on the evening of 14 April 2023.
The event was part of BMC’s initiative to show care and gratitude to the underprivileged families in Mukim Liang as well as to alleviate their burden during Ramadhan and in preparation for the upcoming Hari Raya celebrations.
The event was also held to foster closer ties between BMC’s Executive Management and their employees and families to boost their morale before the Company’s upcoming Schedule Turnaround in a week’s time.
In attendance at the event as the guest of honour was Dato Seri Paduka Haji Khairuddin bin Haji Abdul Hamid, Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Economy) / BMC’s Deputy Chairman. Amongst those also present were BMC’s board members; Haji Amirol Hafidzin bin Haji Muhammad, Acting Belait District Officer; and Mohammad Haszrin bin Bagol, Acting Penghulu Mukim Liang / Sungai Liang Village Head.
The event started with prayers followed by a welcoming speech delivered by BMC CEO, Mr. Jesús Enrique Mora Marín. It was emphasized that BMC has always been committed to giving back to the community, and the event is just one way to positively impact the lives of those in need.

Guest of honour Dato Seri Paduka Haji Khairuddin bin Haji Abdul Hamid presented donations to the underprivileged families to further enliven the event. Following the donation presentation, BMC CEO expressed gratitude to the guest of honour by presenting a token of appreciation. On behalf of the Company and its employees, Mr. Jesús Mora further presented a collective donation for the Belait District Orphan funds. The donation was handed over to Acting Belait District Officer, Haji Amirol Hafidzin bin Haji Muhammad. The event concluded with the breaking-of-fast where the attendees were treated to the scrumptious buffet prepared.
This initiative is of many corporate social responsibility events that the Company has in the pipeline. BMC is proud of taking this step as a part of the Company’s ongoing commitment to make meaningful contributions to the community. Together, BMC aims to make a difference and create a brighter future for all.
