On 1 December 2022, Brunei Methanol Company Sdn Bhd (BMC) organized a companywide team building event at Muara Beach facilitated by Poni Divers Brunei with the theme “Squid Game”.
Based on the South Korean survival television series aired on Netflix where a series of children’s games was played, BMC modified it to cater Brunei’s traditional games such as make-a-kite and fly it, tug-of-war, belun (patintero), red light green light, dalgona and glass tile game.
The event was led by Mr. Kaneshige Kubushiro, BMC Chief Executive Officer, and was officiated with a welcome speech followed by a safety briefing by a representative from Poni Divers. Employees were divided into four groups representing teams of Red, Green, Blue and Yellow.
The teambuilding was a fantastic way for BMC to foster relationships away from the office environment as well as encourage people to improve their communication and teamwork skills.
At BMC, we take pride on having a working environment that is fun, motivational and nurturing. We recognize that for people to perform to the best of their ability and enjoy what they do, creating a good morale is important. Fun and hard work should go hand in hand. There are many challenges that businesses may face, and while its important to know when to be serious, it’s crucial to have fun. We try to promote the importance of spending time away from the office environment to form personal relationships. We are pleased that the 2022 companywide teambuilding proved to be a huge success.
