It was a pleasure to welcome delegates of the 23rd Workshop on Greenhouse Gas Inventories in Asia (WGIA23) co-hosted by the Brunei Climate Change Office on 6 August 2026 as part of their study tour in Brunei Darussalam.

The visit began with welcoming remarks from our Executive Officer, Mr. Akihiko Kiryu, followed by an address by Ms. Tsukakoshi Tomomi, Office of Director for International Cooperation for Transition to Decarbonisation and Sustainable Infrastructure, Global Environment Bureau, Ministry of the Environment, Japan.

We also had insightful presentations from Mr. Sahrom Fadillah Hj Johari and Ms. Wan Siti Hamizah Hj Wan Joffry from Brunei Economic Development Board, on SPARK and Brunei's industrial context, including its contribution towards economic diversification.

The visit provided an opportunity to share BMC’s sustainability journey, including our GHG management practices, emissions monitoring efforts, and initiatives towards a lower-carbon future.

As we continue our journey towards decarbonisation, we recognise that collaboration, knowledge sharing, and innovation are key to building a more sustainable resilient future.

Sustainability is a continuous journey. Together, we can strengthen climate transparency and turn shared commitment into meaningful action for a greener tomorrow. 🌏
