On18 November 2022, Brunei Methanol Company Sdn Bhd (BMC) organised its second blood donation campaign in collaboration with the Laboratory Department of Suri Seri Begawan Hospital Kuala Belait at the Liang Lumut Recreational Club (LLRC) Multipurpose Hall.
BMC employees, contractors and members of the public were invited to participate.
This campaign is part of our Health, Safety, Security & Environment Department (HSD) initiative to support the ever-growing need of blood supply for the Blood Bank in Brunei Darussalam as well as raising awareness on the significance of blood donation in saving lives whilst encouraging others to have a sense of social responsibility to the wider community.
The campaign was officiated by guest of honor Mohammad Yassin bin Haji Ahmed, Acting Belait District Officer.
In the opening remarks, BMC Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Abdul Mu'izz bin Dato Paduka Haji Alikhan emphasized that donating blood can help improve the quality of life and make a difference in the lives of others.
He encouraged healthy and eligible community members who have never donated blood to contribute to this noble humanitarian act to support the Ministry of Health.
A total of 55 eligible donors rolled up their sleeves to bleed for this noble cause. We managed to collect up to 55 pints of blood.
The donors comprised of BMC employees, BMC contractor personnel, community of Mukim Liang-Lumut, uniform personnel and government agencies in Belait District.
The participants were provided with refreshments and had opportunity to pose, shoot and share the fun at the free photo station, in hopes of enabling them to continue supporting the cause further.
In addition to donating blood, the campaign offered mental health awareness talk and health promotion booth to educate the public on how to improve one’s mental health and well-being.
BMC takes pride for being socially responsible and hopes to continue the practice of donating blood regularly and voluntarily.
