BMC DONATES 54 LAPTOPS TO SUPPORT ONLINE LEARNING INITIATIVE

Brunei Methanol Company Sdn Bhd (BMC) yesterday donated 54 laptop computers to support needy students amid the online learning initiative as one of the measures in the fight against COVID-19.

BMC Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Sharidatul Maryani binti Haji Md Saidin presented the donation to Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yusof, who later handed it over to Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the Ministry of Education (MOE) Dr Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati binti Haji Tajuddin.

Also present were Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC) Ir Haji Mohammad Nazri bin Haji Mohammad Yusof, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Infocommunications, Cybersecurity, Strategy and Corporate) at the MTIC Haji Hairul Mohammad Daud bin Haji Abdul Karim, Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary (Transport, Research and Deve-lopment) at the MTIC Pengiran Haji Mohd Zain bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Razak and Acting Chief Executive of AITI Ir Haji Jailani bin Haji Buntar.

Forty-one additional laptop computers have also been received from several ministries and the departments under them.

The donation drive to collect ICT devices to support needy students will be open until May 14. Contributions can be dropped off at Block A, Institute of Brunei technical Education (IBTE) Sultan Saiful Rijal Campus in Jalan Muara or IBTE Jefri Bolkiah Campus in Kuala Belait, from Monday to Thursday between 8.30am and noon and between 2pm and 4pm, and 8.30am to 1.30pm during Ramadhan month.
