BMC STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT DIALOGUE SESSION

On 23 August 2022, Brunei Methanol Company Sdn Bhd (“BMC”) organised a Stakeholder Engagement Dialogue at the SPARK Mini Theatre involving government agencies, relevant authorities, neighboring companies and local communities around Mukim Liang in relation to our upcoming maintenance works (September Opportunity Maintenance - SOM).


The dialogue session focus was to update the attendees on the type of activities to be expected and the safety aspect of the works to be carried out for SOM. It serves as a platform of sharing and exchanging information on relevant issues whilst reassuring that the safety and wellbeing of our community are safeguarded by abiding with the standard operating procedures (SOP) issued by the Ministry of Health in line with the current COVID-19 situation.


Present at the dialogue session was our Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kaneshige Kubushiro; Health, Safety, Security and Environment General Manager, Mr. Pg Mohamad Supri bin Pg Haji Chuchu and Plant General Manager, Mr. Abidin bin Haji Musa. Topics presented by our General Managers were on our HSSE performance, our management of COVID-19 and an overview of the SOM activity works and schedule.


In the welcoming remarks, our Plant General Manager spoke of BMC’s commitment ensuring of no harm to our people, business partners and communities as well as protecting the environment. Ensuring safety and the welfare of our people and contractors is our utmost priority whilst we carry out our SOM, as we ensure that each and every one goes home safely to their loved ones.


Upon the conclusion of the presentations, the attendees were given the opportunity to raise any issues, concerns or clarification related to the maintenance activity. In his closing remarks, our Chief Executive Officer expressed his utmost appreciation to all our stakeholders for their support and understanding. He delivered his message in the Malay language, much to the delight of the attendees.


Overall, the dialogue session was a success in fostering an open and transparent sharing of information in efforts of enhancing our stakeholders understanding on our operations whilst building rapport and collaboration, which in turn will allow us to work together to better contribute for a better future.
