Brunei Methanol Company Sendirian Berhad (“BMC”) is an international joint venture company incorporated in Brunei Darussalam, to construct, own and operate Brunei Darussalam’s first world class methanol production plant. BMC invites Bruneians to apply for the following vacant position:
 
Positions Vacant:
 
1. LEGAL OFFICER (1 position)
Department :
Administration General Manager

Responsibilities:
1. To represent the Company in all regulatory and contractual matters.
2. To ensure compliance by the Company of all its legal and contractual obligations.
3. To assist the Administration General Manager and Plant General Manager in preparing and reviewing all legal or legal-related documentations.
4. To be the focal reference and spokesperson for all matters of legal and contractual nature.
5. To assist the Company’s Secretary to the Board of Directors meeting and Shareholders meeting.
6. To maintain and update the Company’s legal documentations and records.
 
Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
1. Candidates must possess either:
a) A university degree in Law (with honours), which includes subjects taken in contract law and law of tort. Candidate possessing a post-graduate degree in the field of contract law will have an added advantage; OR
b) Possess a minimum of Five (5) years relevant working experience; AND
 
2. Possess good analytical skills.
 
 
 
2. HUMAN RESOURCE STAFF(1 position)

Responsibilities:
1. To assist Human Resource Officer in performing preparation of planning and development of staff training programs and its proper execution.
2. To assist Human Resource Officer in identifying training and development needs through job analysis, appraisal and regular consultation with line managers.
3. To assist Human Resource Officer in planning employees’ career development.
4. To assist Human Resource Officer in evaluating training programmes.
5. To liaise with government departments and training institutions for Company related matters for local and overseas training programs.
6. To manage staff training records.
7. To be the focal person for training booking arrangement and ensure all necessary preparation is prepared.
 
Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
1. Candidates must possess either:
a) Possess O-Level Certificates with at least Five (5) O-level credit; with Three (3) years relevant working experience relating to training and development, involve in developing competency based training, OR
b) Possess a minimum of Five (5) years relevant working experience in training and development, involve in developing competency based training, and training needs analysis.
 
 
 
3. ENVIRONMENTAL INSPECTOR (1 position)

Reporting to : Environmental Officer

Responsibilities:
1. To assist the Environmental Officer in the development and maintaining of environmental management system.
2. To be part of the HSSE audit team and to execute departmental plan of actions for HSSE improvement.
3. To conduct on-site checks to identify aspects and impacts to the environment and implement constructive solutions.
4. To assist all line departments for the implementation of the Company’s Environmental Management System.
5. Assist in HSSE documentation work towards certification of ISO9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001.
 
Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
1. Candidates must possess either:
a) O-Level Certificates with at least 5 O-level credits (including English, Mathematics, Chemistry and / or Physics), and NEBOSH International General Certificate. Candidates possessing Diploma or other higher qualification(s) for competency in the area of environmental protection, and with work experience in conducting inspection/audits in accordance with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 will definitely have an added advantage will have an added advantage; OR
b) Possess a minimum of Three (3) years relevant working experience in environmental protection.
 
 
 
4. NETWORK AND COMMUNICATION TECHNICIAN (1 position)

Reporting to : IT Officer (Servers & Network Infrastructure)

Responsibilities:
1. To ensure the availability and continuous operations of the company’s IT network and communications equipments (including telephone system and radio system).
2. To perform schedule maintenance on the company’s IT network and communication equipments (including telephone system and radio system).
3. To diagnose and troubleshoot IT network and communication equipments (including telephone system and radio system) by using test procedures to locate faults and isolate defective components.
4. To ensure the company’s telephone and radio communication equipments are properly registered and used in accordance to regulatory guidelines in Brunei.
5. To assist the IT Manager and IT Officer in performing daily duties.
 
Eligibility Requirements:
1. Eligible candidates must possess either:
a) an accredited Diploma in Information Technology or Networking or Electronics and Communication discipline AND possess a minimum 2 years working experience in diagnosing IT network and communication equipments; OR
b) a minimum 5 years working experience in diagnosing IT network and communication equipments; AND
2. Must be not more than 30 years old; AND
3. Must be physically fit and not have fear of height.
 
 
 
5. FIELD OPERATOR (1 position )

Reporting to : Plant Shift Supervisor

Responsibilities:
1. To operate the methanol plant through its units and equipment in accordance to the operations and HSSE manuals, procedures and instructions.
2. Ensure that routine and non-routine works are effectively carried out within the operations resources and that activities are in line with HSSE procedure and work instructions requirements.
3. To ensure the operability of the plant is maintained and prevents interruption of methanol delivery.
4. To understand the operating philosophies in line with corporate philosophies.
5. Plan, execute, review and improve production and maintenance activities.
6. Ensure that records and statistical data for internal and fiscalisation accounting purposes are correctly input, maintained and that necessary documentation is produced accurately on time.
7. Explore and highlight opportunities to utilize innovative techniques/technology in support and improvement of the operations.
8. Possess an understanding of distributed control system (DCS) and its correlation with field and central control room (CCR).
 
Eligibility Requirements:
Eligible candidates must possess either:
1) Possess O-level Certificates with at least four (4) O-level credits. Candidates possessing an O-level credit in English Language or Chemistry or technical diploma or higher qualification will have an added advantage; AND possess a minimum of one (1) year relevant working experience in industrial plant environment; OR
2) Possess a minimum of three (3) years relevant working experience in industrial plant’s environment; AND the ability to understand and interpret plant operations manual in order to perform job tasks.

GENERAL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS (For All Positions):
A. In addition to the Eligibility Requirements for each of the vacant position above, all applicants MUST ALSO possess the following general eligibility requirements:-
 
1. A Brunei National or Brunei Permanent Resident status; AND
2. Able to communicate well in the English language and Malay language (both oral and written); AND
3. Able to handle multiple assignments and under short deadline; AND
4. Able to work independently or with minimum supervision; AND
5. Possess work planning acumen and have the discipline of being an organised person; AND
6. Able to work in a team-oriented work environment; AND
7. Able to work using computers, especially with Microsoft Office applications; AND
8. Able to write reports and proposals; AND
9. Having own transportation or having own means of coming to work.
B. Before any successful candidates are confirmed as an Employee of the Company for the above positions, he/she MUST ALSO pass the followings:-
 
1. Pass the Company’s physical health and medical fitness (including eyesight and hearing) test; AND
2. Pass the Company’s assessment/appraisal during his/her probation period.
